Young Writers Workshop

Crazy Cartoons!

INTENSIVE ACT TEST PREP

INTENSIVE PSAT PREP

In this week-long online intensive course we will be examining the PSAT and focusing on a comprehensive overview of the content and concepts within the test, as well as the introduction of specific test prep strategies. This course is designed ONLY for those taking the highest level PSAT/NMSQT, which is used for determining National Merit Scholarship status.

NOTE: Students who have taken an SAT workshop at Higher Ground Learning should only enroll in the PSAT workshop after consulting with Higher Ground due to the similarity in content and structure between the two tests. This workshop is open to all currently enrolled high school students regardless of age.

Crafting College Admissions Essays

In the calm before the September storm, join Higher Ground for an online writing class guaranteed to be a boon to students looking to get a head start on their college applications. Students will learn specific strategies to get over the hump of starting a college essay and will discover how to write more confidently and creatively. The class closely examines essay prompts and students gain insight by writing and participating in feedback sessions with each other and the instructor. All students, regardless of their writing level, ability, or confidence are welcome to enroll in the workshop, and advanced writers will be accounted for and pushed to succeed in ways appropriate for their needs.

No class July 24th. This workshop is only open to rising Juniors and Seniors, no exceptions will be made.

Intro To AP Chemistry

If you're going to take AP Chemistry next year this is the online workshop for you! We will be covering some of the Big Ideas of AP Chem including structure, bonding, kinetics, and equilibrium. This workshop will stress not just the conceptual side of Chemistry, but also will incorporate mathematics and the analyzation of data within a holistic overview of the material. Students should have a foundation in Chemistry, preferably General Chemistry, before taking this workshop. Creative Collage

In this online class, we'll experiment with mixed media collages, incorporating both paint and repurposed paper. We'll see what kind of lines and marks we can make with non-traditional tools and paint, and we'll rip, tear, cut, and glue paper to create both representational and abstract art. We'll talk about some of the basic principles of art- composition, perspective, contrast, and color- and how those influence artistic choices. This class is for anyone interested in learning more about art, exploring creativity, and having fun with mixed media.

Full refunds are available for classes purchased from highergroundlearning.com at any point up to 24 hours before the start of on-site classes, or 10 days before the start of international classes. You may “return” your class registration for a full refund or exchange it for another class of equal value. All other returns or refunds for class registrations will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

University of Utah Youth Education refund requests and withdrawal from classes must be made through Youth Education, 1195 Annex Building, Wing A, or over the phone at 801-581-6984. Parents are responsible for dropping all desired courses for their children. A 100% refund will be given for cancellations up to two full weeks prior to the first day of class. No refunds will be authorized after that, including no prorated refunds for partial attendance. No refunds are authorized in the event of a dismissal.
