Greg Covello - Events Coordinator
I grew up in Grafton Massachusetts, and in 2001 moved to Salt Lake City in search of deep snow and an education at the University of Utah. Living and snowboarding in Utah has provided me with a number of great opportunities and killer friends. I first started working with youth as a volunteer for the CHILL snowboard program here in SLC. I had such a positive experience with CHILL that I decided to take a semester off from school the following season and work as a coordinator for the Salt Lake City CHILL program, and remained coordinator for two seasons. After graduating from the U I took some time to live life as a ski bum. In July of 2008 I decided to mix things up a bit and moved to California. I spent one month living with my best friend in Hollywood and enjoyed my time as a successful unemployed actor. I then moved to North County San Diego and pursued positions as Sports Coordinator at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside and Assistant Director of the Boys & Girls Club after school program at Martin Luther King Middle School. My move to CA was a most excellent experience and I was able to accomplish every goal I set for myself, but I was missing everything I love about Salt Lake. After some long thought I decided I wanted to return and be a positive part of the Salt City community. I packed my truck and jammed back to SLC. Higher Ground Learning has given me another rad opportunity to teach with some cool people, make some new friends, and learn along with the students. Mahalo.
